Patient Forms
Upon entering my office, I will welcome you and make copies of any insurance carrier information. I will provide you with a health history form provided you did not download and complete this form prior to your appointment. You may find your "intake" health history form in the New Patient Center portion of this website. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Consultation
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. John Thorp to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. John Thorp to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. John Thorp will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing following the Activator Methods protocol. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
X-Ray Studies
I do not take x-rays at Saranac Chiropractic Center as the Activator Methods protocol can diagnose and evaluate the need for chiropractic care without the use of them. On occasion I may refer you to your hospital of choice for X-rays should they be warranted. I will be happy to review any X-Ray films and radiology reports that you bring to me free of charge.
Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. John Thorp will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any of your questions including:
- How can you help me?
- How often do I need to come in?
- What will my treatment cost?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine, Dr. John Thorp will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Dr. John Thorp will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
Treatment
You can choose to experience your first chiropractic treatment at the conclusion of your initial appointment. This may include chiropractic correction or "adjustments", physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. You may express concerns at any time during your care as treatment is a colaboration between patient and chiropractor. I offer a relaxed environment without the pressure that some docs are known for. First time appointments are scheduled for 1 1/2 hours while follow up appointments are scheduled on the half hour. This is what makes your care at Saranac Chiropractic different.
I have three Zenith chiropractic adjustment tables on standby for your care. Each table has a specific condition that it treats for. I even have a room set up just for pregnancy. Chiropractic Correction is achieved by Activator Methods diagnosis and treatment protocols in addition to Thompson Drop technique protocols. Wellness Program
Prior to leaving, I might suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment in the clinic. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, I can work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
