Thompson Drop

The Thompson Drop technique uses a "segmental drop table" to enhance the motion of a segment or area to be adjusted.  It allows me to move bones with less force than other techniques require.  No Pain No Gain does not apply here.  Like Activator Methods, the Thompson Drop Technique is thought to be one of the more thorough and less painful chiropractic adjustment technique available to patients.

Saranac Chiropractic Center and "Dr. John" has 3 such tables designed specifically for certain conditions including pregnancy, neck and back issues.  The protocol starts with the patient standing on the table's platform.  The patient is then slowly lowered into a prone, face down, postion.  The chiropractor then examines and assesses the patient for "segmental and somatic dysfunction".  This is a fairly new medical term that the government has come up with to describe what chiropractors do.  Starting October 2015 we treat segmental and somatic dysfunction.  In lay terms, the chiropractor determines which bone is misaligned and needs correction.

The chiropractor then activates the table and various portions of the table will rise up into the patient's body.  I then place my hands on the specific bone to be moved and prepare to administer the chiropractic correction.  A portion of the table under the bone to be moved raises up and I deliver the correction during which time the table portion that raised will drop slightly back to it's original position.  This activity allows the targeted bone to return to the correct position and starts the healing phase.  After all corrections have been performed, the patient is then raised back up to a vertical postion and steps off the table's platform.  This concludes the chiropractic correction.

Now lets talk about chiropractic.  The specific chiropractic adjustment is fundamental to the chiropractic approach to health.  That is why I promote Manual Health Care before Medical Health Care.  Chiropractors believe the spine is corrected to reduce joint sprains and accompanying inflamation while providing pain relief.  We find our treatments to be anti-inflamatory without the side effects of medications and able to reduce joint and muscle pressures without the need of muscle relaxant medications.  By reducing pressures and inflammation we are reducing the risks for further neurological signs such is numbness and tingling sensations.  And by the way, chiropractic is fun!

Be sure question me on any of this at any time.  Manual Health Care before Medical Health Care makes good sense to me.
